Replying to the Voice Mail Message through the Inbox |
|
Whether you can reply to a voice mail message you receive in your desktop Inbox depends on the message sender.
You can only reply to a voice mail message if the voice mail system knows who the sender of the original message
is. The sender will be known if he/she is another subscriber on the same system who sent the message by logging
into their mailbox and using the Send Message option, or if the sender’s phone number can be identified by the
phone system and matched to an entry in one of your address books.
When you select to reply to a message you are presented with the Compose Voice Message window discussed
below. This window offers standard .tape recorder. controls for recording a voice message. Once you record the
reply message, it is deposited in either the sender’s Inbox and/or voice mailbox, as follows:
- If the original message sender has a mailbox on the same voice mail system, the reply voice mail message is
deposited in the original sender’s voice mailbox (and it will display in the sender’s Inbox, if that subscriber is a
unified messaging subscriber).
- If the original message sender does not have a mailbox on the same voice mail system, the reply voice mail
message is sent as a .WAV file attachment to an e-mail message. This allows you to reply to voice mail
messages with voice even to people who are not on the same voice messaging system.
When you reply to a message, you can specify additional recipients in the To field of the Compose Voice Message
window. If you specify the addresses of other subscribers who have a mailbox on the same voice mail system, the
reply message is deposited in each recipient’s voice mailbox (and it will display in his/her Inbox, if the su
bscriber is
a unified messaging subscriber). If you specify other e-mail addresses, your audio reply is sent to those recipients as
a .WAV file attachment to an e-mail message. |
| |
| Forwarding a Message |
|
When you select to forward a voice mail message, you are presented with the Compose Voice Message window
and comment options. From this window you can use the standard .tape recorder. controls to record a comment
that you can then attach to the beginning or end of the original message. When the recipients receive the forwarded
message, they will hear the original message and your recorded comments.
Once you record any comments, then address and send the message, it is deposited in either a recipient’s Inbox
and/or voice mailbox, as follows:
- If you forward message to a recipient who has a mailbox on the same voice mail system, the voice mail
message is deposited in his/her voice mailbox (and it will display in the sender’s Inbox, if that subscriber is a
unified messaging subscriber).
- If you forward message to a recipient who does not have a mailbox on the same voice mail system, the voice
mail message is sent as a .WAV file attachment to an e-mail message. This allows you to forward a voice mail
message to people who are not on the same voice messaging system.

 |
| |
Saving a Message
|
|
| You can select to save each voice mail message or save a message to a file. When saved to a file, the voice
message is stored as a .WAV file, which you can play through the Sound Recorder program available with
Microsoft Windows. |
| |
| Composing a Voice Mail Message in the Inbox |
|
From the Inbox window, you can select to record a voice mail message to send to others. You compose your
message over the telephone or using the microphone attached to your PC. The Compose Voice Message window
offers standard .tape recorder. controls for recording a voice message.
Once you record and send the message, it is deposited in the recipient’s voice mailbox. You can specify multiple
addresses, including a combination of voice mail and e-mail addresses from your Personal Address book or
Contacts list, or by inputting e-mail addresses manually, with the following considerations:
- If the recipient has a mailbox on the same voice mail system, the voice mail message is deposited in his/her
voice mailbox (and it will display in the sender’s Inbox, if that subscriber is a unified messaging subscriber).
- If the recipient does not have a mailbox on the same voice mail system as the sender, the voice mail message is
sent as a .WAV file attachment to an e-mail message. This allows you to send voice mail messages even to
people who are not on the same voice messaging system.

| Viewing Faxes and Faxing from the Desktop |

then double-clicking on the fax attachment icon. The on-screen Imaging Fax Viewer is launched and the fax is
